Role overview

The Director, Solutions Delivery is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing business application solution delivery within IT for Retail Markets and Shared Services. The position drives platform and application development, leads cross-functional teams, and partners with IT leaders to align technology initiatives with enterprise strategy. Reporting to the AVP of IT Solution Delivery, this role blends technical thought leadership with people management, vendor oversight, and strategic planning.

Responsibilities

- Direct operational oversight for maintenance, support, scalability, and performance of applications serving Self-Service and Marketing, Sales, and Distribution product areas - Serve as the primary escalation point for technology issues affecting assigned business applications, filtering out non-urgent items - Manage vendor and third-party relationships, including SLAs, contract terms, and day-to-day performance - Shape technical architecture and roadmaps that translate business needs into technology solutions while managing associated risk - Lead and develop cross-functional teams, including internal staff, managers, engineers, analysts, and offshore contractors - Drive Agile process adoption, on-time and on-budget delivery, and compliance with security, disaster recovery, and policy guidelines

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred - 8+ years supporting technology teams within the life insurance, annuity, or broader financial services industry - 5+ years building cross-organizational relationships and managing outsourced vendors, COTS products, and internal staff - 3+ years managing development teams - Strong technical proficiency in applications architecture, frameworks, and enterprise solution delivery - Demonstrated fiscal acumen including budget management, ROI, cost-benefit analysis, and financial reporting

Nice to have

- PMI or equivalent project management certification - Six Sigma, Lean, or Business Process Re-Engineering experience - Background designing and enforcing policy, process, procedure, and standards frameworks
