Job details
About this role
Role overview Lead the product vision and roadmap for an organisation's entry into the Chinese market, acting as the founding on-the-ground product voice for a new geographic frontier. This is a senior, founding-team-style role for someone who combines hands-on product management with deep local market insight and works daily with a global product organisation headquartered in Europe. You will shape not just features, but how the product shows up in China from day one, including localisation, payments, partnerships and regulatory fit.
Responsibilities - Own the product vision and roadmap for the China market entry, grounded in first-hand knowledge of local users, competitors and dynamics. - Gather market intelligence, user insight and partner feedback directly from the Chinese ecosystem and channel it into product decisions. - Break broad market-entry opportunities into concrete, measurable, sequenced actions and validate them with experiments. - Develop product features from ideation to release, factoring in local payment methods, super-app integrations such as WeChat and Alipay, and China-specific regulatory requirements. - Build local partnerships with venues, promoters and platforms that inform and unlock product opportunities. - Communicate a compelling go-to-market strategy to both local stakeholders and global leadership.
Requirements - Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field. - 5+ years of product management experience with meaningful exposure to the Chinese consumer tech or entertainment and ticketing landscape. - High proficiency in Mandarin Chinese and high proficiency in business English, since you will work daily with a China-based ecosystem and a Europe-based global team. - Deep, current familiarity with the Chinese digital ecosystem and consumer behaviour, including platforms such as WeChat, Alipay, Douyin, Xiaohongshu, Bilibili and Taobao Live. - Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with the ability to derive conclusions from data and communicate them clearly. - Proven ability to manage ambiguity, complexity and interdependencies within a product development cycle, including with remote and distributed engineering and design teams. - Demonstrated ownership, urgency and persistence in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
Nice to have - Familiarity with Chinese event discovery platforms such as Damai, Maoyan, Meituan, Dianping and Trip.com or Fliggy. - Understanding of live-streaming and social commerce dynamics and their role in event discovery. - Knowledge of China-specific ticketing and live-event compliance, including real-name registration, ID and facial verification and anti-scalping enforcement. - Familiarity with China's data protection framework (PIPL), ICP and EDI licensing considerations, and local hosting requirements. - Experience working with KOL and KOC marketing ecosystems and designing features around referrals, social sharing and group-buying mechanics. - Technical fluency and comfort discussing architectural trade-offs with engineering. - Startup experience, ideally building a product or business from scratch in China. - Proven ability to define a winning market-entry strategy from limited initial data and to run lean validations and A/B tests tailored to a new market.
Benefits and work setup - Attractive compensation package with base salary plus performance bonus potential and stock options. - 40% discount on the platform's events and experiences, with the opportunity to have a real impact in a high-growth global category leader. - Candidates must already be based in China.
