Senior Backend Engineer

Role overview Build and evolve backend services that support a high-volume consumer platform. You’ll take features from design through production, contribute to architecture and delivery practices, and help ensure services remain reliable, observable, and scalable. The role combines hands-on engineering with technical ownership and collaboration across product, data, and engineering teams.

Responsibilities - Design and implement end-to-end backend features and REST APIs. - Improve service architecture, performance, reliability, and scalability, including event-driven components. - Deliver code through production using CI/CD practices and contribute to delivery pipeline improvements. - Work with Product, Data, and engineering colleagues on platform and developer-experience improvements. - Participate in design discussions and code reviews, and mentor teammates as appropriate. - Support operational quality through testing, observability, and sound engineering practices.

Requirements - Strong grasp of software engineering practices, testing, and design patterns. - Experience implementing and consuming REST APIs and taking code from development into production. - Knowledge of relational databases and SQL. - Experience with event streaming tools such as Kafka or RabbitMQ. - Experience supporting services with high request volumes and concurrency. - Professional proficiency in English.

Nice to have - Python web frameworks such as Django or Flask, and PostgreSQL or Redis. - AWS, Docker, or Kubernetes experience.
