This Staff Engineer role focuses on Android development for a flagship sports platform mobile application. Responsibilities
- Drive the development, testing, documentation, and deployment of high-quality, scalable Android software into production - Lead end-to-end technical execution of complex features and systems, from ideation and architecture through deployment and refinement - Define and enforce engineering principles, guidelines, and best practices across the mobile team - Partner with product, design, and other stakeholders to make high-impact technical decisions that balance business goals with long-term scalability - Lead incident resolution as part of an on-call rotation, diagnosing and remediating critical issues quickly - Conduct and elevate code reviews, mentor engineers at all levels, and champion improvements to documentation, testability, and operational metrics
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience building highly scalable Android applications using MVI architecture - Expert-level proficiency in Kotlin, with the ability to mentor others in idiomatic usage - Deep Android domain expertise, including platform best practices, current trends, and end-user considerations - Hands-on experience with Jetpack Compose and either Direct Injection or ServiceLocator patterns - Strong communication skills, able to explain complex technical concepts to engineers, executives, and non-technical audiences - Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally within large enterprise environments and drive Agile/SCRUM delivery
Nice to have
- Experience with Kotlin Multiplatform and Compose Multiplatform - Familiarity with Material Design, ideally Material 3 - Background in client API design and client/backend integration - Working knowledge of GoLang, Swift, or Java
