About this role
Role overview Join a core platform team that builds the shared foundations powering multiple consumer products. The work centers on high-throughput, high-availability backend services, with meaningful contributions to the web front-ends those services support. It's a hands-on full-stack position with a backend center of gravity, suited to someone who wants to own significant technical surface area end to end.
Responsibilities - Design, build, and operate production-grade services and APIs, primarily in Go - Lead technical design for medium and large features: define approach, weigh trade-offs, document decisions, and drive delivery - Break ambiguous problems into well-scoped work for yourself and other engineers - Run design and architecture reviews, and raise the bar in code review for correctness, readability, and operational safety - Mentor engineers, onboard new hires, and serve as a technical point of contact for owned systems - Participate in on-call rotations, drive incident response, and lead blameless postmortems - Improve reliability, performance, and cost of owned systems against defined SLOs - Identify and pay down technical debt, partnering with product, design, and stakeholders on roadmap decisions
Requirements - 5+ years of professional software engineering experience on production systems - Strong demonstrated proficiency in Go (Golang), including concurrency, error handling, testing, profiling, and performance tuning - Experience designing, building, and scaling backend services and APIs (REST and/or gRPC) in a distributed microservices environment - Proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript with React or another modern front-end framework - Solid grounding in relational and/or NoSQL databases, caching, and event streaming (e.g. Kafka, SQS/SNS) - Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure), containers, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code, plus strong operational instincts for observability and debugging under pressure
Nice to have - Experience with identity and access management (authentication, authorization, SSO, OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, JWT, MFA) - Familiarity with CIAM platforms such as Okta, Auth0, ForgeRock, AWS Cognito, or Ping - Background in account security, fraud prevention, PII handling, or compliance-driven engineering (KYC, GDPR, CCPA) - Build or integration experience for high-traffic, event-driven consumer products or shared platform services
Benefits and work setup - Base salary range of $121,600 to $200,000 USD, depending on location, experience, and qualifications
