Job details
About this role
Role overview
Lead technical direction and hands-on development for an early-stage prediction and trading product. You’ll shape architecture across customer-facing web experiences and backend services, guide complex work across teams, and help the platform grow reliably as usage and event volumes increase.
Responsibilities
- Set architecture and technical priorities for major parts of the product, from web applications and APIs to event-driven systems. - Design and deliver scalable features, contributing deeply in React, Next.js, and TypeScript or backend services in Go while working across the stack. - Turn ambiguous, cross-team problems into clear proposals, delivery plans, and measurable outcomes; own initiatives from discovery through deployment and iteration. - Work with product, design, infrastructure, and platform partners to balance usability, accessibility, performance, security, reliability, and delivery pace. - Improve engineering quality through design and code reviews, testing, observability, safe releases, and mentoring. - Establish responsible practices for AI-assisted development, including review, security, and validation standards.
Requirements
- Substantial experience building and operating scalable production systems, with technical leadership at Staff level or comparable cross-team scope. - Deep expertise in either React-based web applications with JavaScript or TypeScript, or backend services using Go, Java, Python, or similar; ability to reason across the full stack. - A record of setting technical direction and delivering complex work from uncertain requirements to measurable production results. - Strong architectural judgment, including system boundaries, tradeoffs, and evolving systems as needs and scale change. - Experience with modern web architecture and state management, or with data modeling, distributed systems, and event-driven design. - Clear communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to mentor, align teams, and create clarity as priorities shift.
Nice to have
- Experience with real-money transactions, financial correctness, auditability, or regulatory requirements; multi-team roadmaps; developer productivity; or security-minded AI engineering practices. - Experience establishing technical foundations in a startup or high-growth product environment.
