Senior Staff Platform Engineer - Core

Role overview

Set technical direction for platform capabilities used to deploy and operate critical services in cloud-native environments. This senior, hands-on role combines architecture and delivery leadership across cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, CI/CD, observability, and developer tools, with responsibility for complex initiatives that span multiple teams and quarters.

Responsibilities

- Lead the design and delivery of platform capabilities across cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, CI/CD, observability, and internal developer tooling. - Guide complex initiatives from architecture and planning through deployment and ongoing refinement. - Work with engineering teams to improve the reliability, scalability, and performance of their services. - Contribute to incident response and drive follow-up improvements to availability and stability. - Promote effective practices for software delivery, infrastructure management, and operations. - Mentor engineers and help strengthen the team’s technical culture.

Requirements

- Track record leading complex, cross-team initiatives and delivering them through clear milestones and predictable planning. - Strong software engineering background, including backend development and distributed systems. - Deep knowledge of AWS, cloud-native architecture, and Kubernetes in production. - Experience with infrastructure as code, such as Terraform or CloudFormation, and automation. - Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and developer productivity tooling. - Strong knowledge of observability across logs, metrics, and traces, plus incident management for large-scale systems. - Proficiency in Go or Python and ability to communicate technical topics clearly across teams.

Nice to have

- Experience scaling services globally, managing cloud costs, or working in regulated or high-availability environments. - Familiarity with Java or Kotlin, GitHub Actions, Kafka, or Cassandra.
