Senior Principal Software Engineer (REMOTE)

Role overview Set the technical direction for a large-scale, fault-tolerant online betting and gaming platform, leading architecture for the most critical, cross-cutting systems. The role partners with engineering, product, platform, and security leaders to shape priorities, drive complex initiatives spanning teams and regulatory constraints, and establish engineering practices that raise quality and operational readiness. It is a senior leadership seat expected to influence at both the technical and executive level while remaining deeply engaged with system design.

Responsibilities - Define the technical strategy and architecture for a highly scalable, resilient online betting and gaming platform, including market integration, risk management, and supporting tooling and backend systems. - Lead architecture for critical cross-cutting systems, ensuring solutions are scalable, resilient, secure, and built for long-term reuse. - Partner with engineering, product, and platform leaders to shape priorities, sequencing, and technical trade-offs across multiple teams and domains. - Drive the organization's most complex technical initiatives, especially those spanning teams, systems, and regulatory constraints. - Establish and elevate engineering standards, design principles, and review practices across the organization. - Identify systemic technical risks, performance bottlenecks, and architectural contention, guiding teams toward durable solutions. - Mentor senior engineers and influence technical decision-making across the organization.

Requirements - Fifteen or more years of software engineering experience with deep expertise in backend and distributed systems. - Demonstrated ability to set technical direction and influence architecture across multiple teams or domains. - Strong system design and architectural judgment in complex, high-scale environments. - Track record of building secure, reliable, and performant production systems. - History of leading large, cross-cutting technical initiatives from design through adoption. - Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence technical and executive audiences. - Willingness to travel occasionally to offices and events.

Nice to have - Experience in core platform domains such as identity and account systems, payments and transactions, loyalty and promotions, platform engineering, or developer productivity. - Familiarity with mobile cross-platform technologies such as Kotlin Multiplatform. - Background thriving in fast-paced, high-growth startup environments.
