Principal Product Manager — Growth, Social & Community
Job details
About this role
Role overview
A senior product leader is needed to own the social and community layer of a multi-product sports fan ecosystem spanning commerce, collectibles, and gaming experiences. This is a growth-focused Principal Product Manager position responsible for end-to-end ownership of the social thesis, roadmap, mechanics, growth numbers, and gamification layer that connects fans across products through a shared identity and loyalty system.
Responsibilities
- Define the ecosystem growth thesis, including which social mechanics unlock growth and the order to build them in - Build a real identity and public profile product that carries a fan from one product into the next - Design in-product acquisition loops such as invites, referrals, and friend discovery that reduce reliance on paid media - Create sharing surfaces built around moments fans actually want to send, plus public social surfaces that reach non-customers - Turn shared experience into a retention mechanic that benefits the whole ecosystem - Make the value of social levers measurable enough to justify continued investment, including a gamification layer
Requirements
- Eight or more years in product, with substantial time on growth and on social, community, or network products at consumer scale - Track record of shipping social products where value came from other users, with hands-on experience growing graphs and solving cold start - Demonstrated ability to carry a growth number and defend a roadmap against it, covering both acquisition and retention - Comfort moving between writing narratives that align a company and shipping prototypes with engineers and designers in days rather than quarters - Skill to write queries, design experiments, debate incrementality with data scientists, and distinguish real lift from seasonal effects - Prior experience dealing with the moderation, abuse, and bad-actor challenges that come with user-generated content
Nice to have
- A social product shipped that outlived the original team that built it - A graph grown from nothing with a clear story about how cold start was solved - Experience moving users between products or business units at scale - Work across P&Ls where the outcome was owned without owning the roadmap - Something public: a product, a repository, writing, or a community started and grown - Experience shipping social or UGC inside a regulated or high-scrutiny environment
Benefits and work setup
- Salary range of $200,000 to $230,000 USD, with ranges varying by country and state of residence - Full-time employment with additional bonus and benefits components - Opportunity to shape the vision for one of the largest fan bases in sports, with real investment behind the roadmap - Work with a small, strong, AI-forward team that prototypes quickly and ships v1 to learn from - Collaboration across Product, Design, Engineering, and Data, with the work showing up across every product rather than inside one of them
