About this role
Role overview
This remote position leads a small analytics team embedded within a Strategic Operations function, serving as the analytical backbone for understanding operational performance across customer experience, fraud, payments, workforce management, and VIP programs. The role splits roughly evenly between people leadership and hands-on analytical work, with the successful candidate writing SQL, reviewing models, and owning complex cross-functional initiatives from scoping through recommendation. The team is actively building toward an AI-first operating model, so the role carries meaningful responsibility for shaping how AI is evaluated and deployed within analytical workflows.
Responsibilities
- Manage, coach, and develop a team of 2–3 analysts, including goal setting, performance management, and career development. - Set the technical and analytical bar for the team by reviewing SQL, dbt models, dashboards, and analyses directly. - Lead complex, cross-functional analytical initiatives end-to-end, from ambiguous problem through decision-ready recommendation. - Diagnose root causes in operational data and translate findings into concrete, actionable recommendations for senior leadership. - Own the quality and reliability of dbt models and analytical datasets, partnering with central data teams on upstream pipelines. - Partner with senior operations leaders on the analytics AI roadmap, including use-case prioritization, evaluation frameworks, and tracking deployed agent performance.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, data analytics, or strategic operations. - 2+ years directly managing analysts as direct reports, including performance management and hiring. - Advanced, hands-on SQL skills, including the ability to write, QA, and optimize complex queries; a live on-screen technical exercise is part of the interview process. - Working fluency in dbt, including building and reviewing models and identifying design issues. - Demonstrated experience owning complex cross-functional projects end-to-end, from ambiguous ask to stakeholder-ready recommendation. - Experience building and maintaining dashboards in Sigma, Tableau, or a comparable tool, plus strong stakeholder management and high attention to detail.
Nice to have
- Experience supporting AI/ML workflows, agent builds, or automation initiatives. - Python or a similar scripting language for data manipulation and automation. - Familiarity with operational KPIs across customer support, fraud, payments, or workforce management. - Background in gaming, fintech, or sports. - Bachelor's degree in Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, or a related field.
Benefits and work setup
- Remote position with a posted base salary range of $138,000–$170,000 USD, plus bonus eligibility for full-time employees. - Some interview or onboarding stages may include in-person components in New York City; specific travel and participation requirements are confirmed based on role and location.
