About this role
Role overview Build and improve core software for systems that analyze network traffic at high speed and scale. You’ll own complex engineering work across protocol support, data handling, and performance, while helping shape architecture and modernization efforts with other engineering teams.
Responsibilities - Develop and maintain performance critical services, taking features from design through delivery with limited guidance. - Implement and improve protocol support across networking layers. - Contribute to technical designs, architecture decisions, and clear documentation. - Work with product, platform, infrastructure, and cloud partners to plan roadmaps and balance delivery with technical improvements. - Diagnose production and performance problems, find root causes, and prevent recurrence. - Participate in code reviews, agile planning, on-call rotations, and efforts to improve reliability and observability.
Requirements - Bachelor’s degree in a STEM or related analytical field, or equivalent relevant background. - At least four years of experience building and operating production software at scale. - Strong C and C++ skills and experience developing on Linux, including threading, memory management, and interprocess communication. - Experience building performance critical systems and debugging complex issues with tools such as debuggers, core dumps, or performance profilers. - Solid networking fundamentals and command of data structures, algorithms, and software design. - Ability to work independently, manage priorities, communicate clearly, and turn complex problems into actionable work.
Nice to have - Experience with protocols such as HTTP, SMB, Kerberos, TLS, or Microsoft network protocols. - Exposure to cloud platforms, especially AWS, distributed systems, production operations, or observability. - Scripting experience in Python or a similar language.
