Senior Analytics Engineer, Financial Systems Engineering

Role overview

A senior analytics engineering role sits inside a Financial Systems Engineering group, responsible for end-to-end traceability of every dollar flowing from inbound merchant data through operational warehouses into accounting and back out to obligor, reinsurer, and audit reporting. The position is hands-on with SQL and dbt, owning the invoicing and reimbursement logic, the financial models the business reports from, and the tie-outs that prove the numbers agree.

Responsibilities

- Build and maintain invoicing and reimbursement models in dbt that calculate amounts invoiced, due, and in error across contracts sold and claims paid. - Develop automated reconciliation between inbound merchant data, operational databases, the warehouse, and the accounting system. - Investigate variances, establish the source of truth on each side, and resolve breaks at the origin rather than patching downstream. - Triage reported data issues by quantifying impact, identifying required action, holding affected invoices pending correction, and tracking systemic fixes. - Validate claim and service order expense accuracy, confirming reported amounts match what was paid and expanding automation across reimbursement paths. - Support internal and external audits by producing traceable, documented, and reproducible results, and partner on merchant configuration reviews.

Requirements

- 4-6 years in analytics or data engineering, building analytical or financial models in dbt or an equivalent tool under version control, with testing and pull request reviews. - Strong SQL skills, including the ability to write efficient, well-structured queries against large financial datasets and trace complex existing models to confirm business intent. - Reconciliation instincts: understanding what a source of truth is, how to prove two systems agree, and how to resolve breaks when they do not. - Comfort handling financial data where errors reach invoices, auditors, and partners. - API fluency for investigating and correcting operational data, plus clear written communication for working with non-technical stakeholders and pushing back on requests that do not hold up. - A bias toward root cause and automation, with comfort shaping how work gets done when the path is not already defined.

Nice to have

Merchant reconciliation experience; background in warranty, insurance, or service-contract programs; claims and reimbursements; order-to-cash systems; NetSuite; obligor and reinsurer reporting; or AI-assisted workflows for operational triage.
