Role overview
This position centers on designing and building scalable, cloud-native backend systems that power analytics and application platforms serving the healthcare pharmacy ecosystem. The engineer will work across backend development, data engineering, and cloud infrastructure to deliver reliable services using Python, AWS services, and modern data architectures. It is a collaborative role that partners closely with product, engineering, and analytics teams on end-to-end solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using AWS services, Python, SQL, stored procedures, Step Functions, Lambda, API Gateway, and Glue. - Build serverless functions and microservices that support application features and data processing workflows. - Develop and maintain ETL pipelines using AWS Glue and Python to ingest, transform, and enrich data from a variety of internal and external sources. - Integrate APIs, batch jobs, and real-time data streams using Lambda, Glue, Kinesis, Step Functions, and S3. - Design scalable data architectures spanning data lakes, data warehouses, bulk ingestion, and transaction processing. - Administer and optimize cloud-native databases such as Redshift, PostgreSQL, and MySQL on RDS or Aurora, while monitoring and tuning pipelines for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience building backend cloud-native applications with Python and AWS. - Proficiency with core AWS services including Lambda, Glue, Step Functions, Redshift, RDS, S3, and Kinesis. - Strong SQL skills and comfort working with stored procedures and relational databases. - Experience designing and maintaining ETL pipelines and data integration workflows. - Familiarity with serverless architectures, microservices, and API integration patterns. - Ability to collaborate effectively across product, engineering, and analytics teams.
Nice to have
- Background working with healthcare, pharmacy, claims, or other regulated data domains. - Familiarity with performance optimization techniques such as caching, partitioning, and batching strategies. - Experience supporting data platforms used for high-cost or specialty medication workflows.
