Role overview
Help shape web services that support customer workflows for a collaborative spatial data product. Working with guidance from senior product and engineering leaders, you’ll turn customer and team needs into prioritized work, track service usage, and coordinate iterative releases. The role centers on product planning and service operations rather than ownership of production code or system architecture.
Responsibilities
- Gather input from customers, leaders, and developers, then translate needs into functional user stories. - Maintain usage dashboards and use performance trends to inform product goals and priorities. - Own and refine the backlog of stories and defects with the development team. - Coordinate development and release plans and communicate them to stakeholders. - Validate and triage enhancement and defect requests with support teams. - Work with product, engineering, and writing colleagues to share best practices through tutorials, articles, or presentations.
Requirements
- At least two years working in an Agile software development environment. - Experience with GIS applications or other GIS technology, and with GIS APIs or mapping software development tools. - Experience with web services and APIs, including REST, service contracts, and versioning. - Strong communication and storytelling skills for explaining complex ideas to different audiences. - Project coordination skills, including structuring work and releasing functionality iteratively. - Foundational to intermediate understanding of cloud web services, reliability, monitoring, availability, performance, and error handling. - Bachelor’s degree in computer science, GIS, information science, or a related discipline.
Nice to have
- Experience with enterprise-scale or developer-focused products. - Familiarity with mapping platforms, monitoring, cloud services, API testing, or browser automation tools. - Familiarity with Python, SQL, TypeScript, JavaScript, CI/CD, or DevOps practices.
