Tech Lead

Role overview Guide the technical direction and delivery of one or more software project teams while remaining hands-on where it helps the team move forward. The role combines architecture and code review with mentoring, risk management, and collaboration across engineering, product, project management, and client stakeholders.

Responsibilities - Set technical direction and break complex work into manageable, deliverable pieces. - Review system designs and code for risk, clarity, and maintainability. - Mentor engineers through pairing, feedback, and shared technical standards. - Identify technical risks early, explain their impact, and propose ways to address them. - Encourage sound testing, code quality, and incremental delivery practices. - Coordinate with project and client stakeholders, balancing constraints with technical quality; contribute to hiring discussions and unblock the team through hands-on work when needed.

Requirements - Significant experience building and operating production software. - A record of guiding technical delivery while giving engineers room to work. - Strong system design and code review skills. - Experience mentoring or coaching developers. - Clear communication with engineers and other stakeholders. - Ability to make decisions with incomplete information and raise concerns constructively when risk is high. - Understanding of software delivery and quality practices.

Nice to have - Experience leading teams in a software house, consultancy, or multi-product environment.
