Remote job
Product Designer - Visual Craft
Job details
About this role
Role overview
A product design role focused on shaping the experience of a creative toolkit used by designers, filmmakers, editors, and creators. The designer will help craft workflows that get people to professional results, often blending AI-assisted adaptation of stock video and graphics with traditional creative refinement. The work spans from messy early thinking through to beautifully resolved customer experiences and is anchored by strong visual craft and product judgment.
Responsibilities
- Work on the core app, helping creative professionals find, generate, and refine assets for their projects. - Take ideas from early-stage thinking through to polished customer experiences. - Shape creative workflows, including AI-assisted adaptation of stock video and graphics, character and visual style consistency, and video clip sequencing. - Make capabilities easy to discover and use, connecting them around what someone is trying to create. - Prototype ideas quickly using Figma, code, motion, and AI-assisted tools to turn ideas into something people can experience. - Partner closely with Product and Engineering to influence what gets built, not just how it looks after decisions are made. - Help evolve the product's visual language and design system alongside other designers.
Requirements
- A portfolio that demonstrates strong visual craft and the judgment behind design decisions across typography, hierarchy, motion, and interaction. - Ability to explain the reasoning behind design choices, not just present final screens. - Genuine interest in new creative technology, with hands-on experimentation using AI, prototyping, or design-to-code tools. - Comfort sharing unfinished work and incorporating feedback without losing interesting ideas. - Ability to collaborate with engineers and product partners without needing everything translated into a polished design brief.
Nice to have
- An application that includes a project built with AI and a piece showing visual craft; product work, client work, and independent experiments are all welcome. - A short write-up covering your contribution, the tools you used, and the details you sweated.
Benefits and work setup
- Remote-first across Australia or New Zealand with flexible work and life management. - Option to work from another location for up to 3 months per calendar year. - Annual connection budget for in-person team meetups. - Learning budget and study leave. - Home office allowance plus a monthly work-from-home allowance. - Holistic wellbeing program. - 2 days of volunteer leave per calendar year. - 20 weeks paid primary carer leave and 6 weeks paid secondary carer leave.
