Role overview
This senior-level position focuses on supporting, maintaining, and enhancing a suite of critical mainframe applications. The role combines hands-on technical work with technical leadership, mentoring junior developers while acting as a subject-matter expert across enterprise application support and delivery.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2, and VSAM. - Lead complex troubleshooting and resolution for application and integration issues. - Conduct performance tuning and optimization of mainframe applications and database queries. - Manage incidents, service requests, and change requests through enterprise ticketing systems such as ServiceNow. - Translate functional and technical requirements into implementation options that align with business needs. - Author and maintain technical documentation, including knowledge-base articles and standard operating procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. - 8+ years of specialized experience in mainframe application development, support, and maintenance. - Proficiency in COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and VSAM, plus strong command of SDLC methodologies. - Hands-on experience with version control systems and modern software development tools. - Comfort working across both waterfall and agile delivery models. - Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills.

- Prior experience acting as a technical lead guiding junior engineers. - Familiarity with DevOps practices applied to mainframe environments.
