Role overview This senior position focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise mainframe applications within a managed services environment. The work combines hands-on coding with production support, delivered across both waterfall and agile methodologies. The role centers on keeping mission-critical systems stable while continuously modernizing and optimizing performance.
Responsibilities - Design, develop, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS, IMS DB/DC, DB2, MQ, VSAM, and Netron Frame technology - Handle incidents, service requests, and change requests simultaneously using enterprise ticketing systems such as ServiceNow or Service Manager - Perform complex technical troubleshooting and resolution for application and integration issues - Conduct performance tuning and optimization of mainframe applications and database queries - Produce technical documentation including knowledge base articles and standard operating procedures for business and support teams - Translate functional and technical requirements into implementation and change options aligned with business needs
Requirements - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field - Extensive experience in mainframe application development, support, and maintenance - Proficiency in COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, IMS DC/DB, MQ, VSAM, and Netron Frame technology - Strong understanding of SDLC methodologies, version control systems, and software development tools - Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills; able to work independently or as part of a team
