About this role
Role overview A Manager of Monitoring and Observability is needed to lead and grow a team of Expert and Senior Observability Engineers and SREs within a large, regulated 24x7 enterprise environment. The role blends people leadership, delivery management, and technical governance to drive the transition from legacy monitoring to modern observability platforms. The position is remote in Brazil under CLT hiring and partners across application, cloud, security, and DevOps stakeholders.
Responsibilities - Lead, mentor, and grow a team of Expert/Senior Observability Engineers and SREs while managing vendor relationships, licensing, cloud consumption costs, and departmental budgets - Define and execute the enterprise observability roadmap, transitioning to modern platforms such as IBM Instana, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry - Act as delivery leader for observability initiatives using Agile/Scrum, owning backlog grooming, sprint planning, and capacity management, with PMP best practices for FOAK onboarding, migrations, and multi-cloud telemetry projects - Champion ITIL v4 practices and serve as Senior Escalation Manager during P1/P2 major incidents, coordinating war rooms and driving post-incident RCA - Govern enterprise SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets, providing technical oversight on Kubernetes observability, telemetry pipelines, and Infrastructure-as-Code (Ansible/Terraform) - Oversee knowledge transfer and transition programs, ensuring 24x7 operational readiness and embedding observability into CI/CD pipelines through Shift-Left practices
Requirements - 12+ years of total IT experience, including 3–5 years directly managing SRE, Observability, or Cloud Infrastructure teams - Strong conceptual understanding of IBM Instana, Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Telegraf, and InfluxDB - Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, multi-cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), Linux, and legacy monitoring tools (Netcool, SolarWinds) - Working knowledge of DevOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, GitOps, and IaC (Ansible/Terraform) - ITIL 4 Foundation or Managing Professional certification - Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM), and PMP or equivalent Agile/Project Management credential
Nice to have - Experience managing enterprise-wide IT transformation projects and complex vendor transitions in heavily regulated environments
