About this role
Role overview This is a senior individual-contributor position focused on architecting and delivering high-performance, reliability-critical software systems. The engineer will own key system components end to end, from design through production, while shaping build, tooling, and quality practices for the team. The work spans systems-level C++, concurrent runtime design, and modern DevOps pipelines in a Linux-based environment.
Responsibilities - Architect, develop, and maintain complex, high-performance applications in modern C++ (C++11/14/17/20 and later), emphasising reliability, scalability, and runtime efficiency. - Design and implement solutions involving advanced memory management and concurrent, multithreaded architectures. - Define and maintain CMake-based build systems and manage multi-platform build configurations; design and maintain CI/CD pipelines with Docker-based containerisation. - Diagnose complex defects using tools such as GDB and Valgrind, lead performance profiling and tuning, and drive post-mortem analysis. - Lead code reviews, enforce coding standards, contribute to branching and release workflows in Git, and mentor junior and mid-level engineers. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams on system design, technical planning, effort estimation, and automation scripts in Python and shell, with SQL where data access is required.
Requirements - Expert-level proficiency in modern C++, including RAII, smart pointers, custom allocators, and memory pool strategies, plus demonstrated experience diagnosing memory leaks, dangling pointers, and buffer overflows. - Deep command of the C++ threading model, lock-free or wait-free patterns, and the ability to identify and resolve race conditions, deadlocks, and thread-safety issues. - Expert-level experience with CMake for cross-platform build configuration and strong proficiency with Docker for containerised development and deployment. - Hands-on experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines on tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions, plus advanced use of GDB and Valgrind (Memcheck, Helgrind, Callgrind). - Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent industry experience. - Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, clear communication, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Nice to have - Familiarity with relational data sources and SQL for system integrations. - Experience scripting in Python and shell to extend automation and tooling.
