About this role
Role overview Seeking a senior database leader to set the technical standard across enterprise data platform strategy. The position combines executive advisory work, hands-on architecture for mission-critical systems, and mentorship across architecture and engineering teams. Scope spans modernization, cloud adoption, automation, security, and emerging data technologies for large strategic clients.
Responsibilities - Define and evolve enterprise database architecture standards, governance models, design frameworks, and best practices. - Lead large-scale modernization, migration, consolidation, and cloud transformation programs across complex environments. - Architect resilient, secure, and automated database solutions supporting mission-critical workloads on Azure, AWS, and hybrid platforms. - Advise C-level and senior technology stakeholders on data strategy, investment decisions, risk, and transformation planning. - Lead technical due diligence, assessments, and architecture reviews for strategic opportunities and pursuits. - Mentor architects, engineers, and consultants while representing the practice through industry events and thought leadership.
Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field. - 10+ years of experience in database architecture, engineering, administration, or enterprise data platform leadership. - 7+ years designing and leading enterprise-scale modernization and transformation initiatives. - Expert-level knowledge of cloud database services plus deep expertise in SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB/NoSQL, or cloud-native databases. - Proven experience with highly available, mission-critical environments and with performance, scalability, security, governance, and disaster recovery. - Demonstrated success partnering with executive stakeholders and aligning technology strategy with business outcomes.
Nice to have - Master's degree in a related field and prior consulting or managed services experience with global enterprises. - Industry thought leadership through conferences, publications, advisory boards, or technical communities.
