About this role

Role overview

Lead the creation of an enterprise AI platform that gives engineering and applied AI teams a shared, governed foundation for building and operating AI-enabled products. This founding vice president role combines technical strategy, hands-on architecture, organizational leadership, and executive alignment across platform engineering, applied AI, workforce transformation, security, and IT.

Responsibilities

- Define and deliver the core AI platform, including an LLM gateway, agent framework, reusable prompt and agent libraries, and evaluation infrastructure. - Lead the developer-experience and engineering-velocity program, including coding agents, testing and autonomy frameworks, coverage gates, and measurement of delivery cycle time. - Build software-enabled product operations with automated reporting, operating cadences, gap analysis, and product-development maturity metrics. - Own shared automation APIs, orchestration, integrations, retrieval and RAG infrastructure, context pipelines, agent memory, evaluation datasets, and usage telemetry. - Establish platform-wide observability, cost controls, security, privacy, and responsible-AI safeguards in partnership with Security and IT. - Set a single enterprise platform direction, grow the organization through directors and senior technical leaders, and coordinate priorities with peer executives.

Requirements

- At least 15 years in software or platform engineering, including 5 or more years leading engineering teams or organizations and 8 or more years building shared platforms or infrastructure. - At least 3 years of hands-on production AI/ML experience, with shipped work involving LLMs, agents, and evaluation systems. - Demonstrated success operating platforms used by many teams and making architecture, build-versus-buy, and organizational design decisions at scale. - Deep practical knowledge of LLMs, agents, orchestration, evaluation, and production concerns such as latency, cost, reliability, and safety. - Ability to personally architect and ship foundational services during an early build phase while also hiring, leveling, and developing senior engineers. - Strong executive influence, cross-functional alignment skills, and sound judgment around security, privacy, and responsible AI.
