Senior Software Engineer, Infrastructure

Role overview

Lead the direction and evolution of shared cloud infrastructure used by multiple product engineering teams. This is a hands-on senior platform role spanning AWS, infrastructure as code, delivery automation, reliability, security, observability, and cost visibility. You will act as a technical leader and internal product owner, creating reliable paved paths that help teams ship independently and safely.

Responsibilities

- Define multi-quarter technical strategy for a major infrastructure domain, including priorities, trade-offs, and areas intentionally left team-owned. - Lead several infrastructure initiatives at once, coordinating work across the central platform group and adopting engineering teams. - Design and maintain reusable Terraform modules, CI/CD templates, GitHub Actions workflows, and operational tooling. - Improve incident response, on-call quality, deployment reliability, observability, and the health of infrastructure vendor integrations. - Evaluate requests from product teams and determine when a shared platform solution is appropriate versus when local ownership is better. - Establish engineering standards, coach other engineers, and communicate infrastructure priorities with product and engineering leadership.

Requirements

- At least six years building and operating production cloud infrastructure, including deep AWS experience with multi-account environments, networking, IAM, and security boundaries. - Advanced Terraform expertise, including reusable module design, state management, drift handling, and execution patterns. - Strong CI/CD experience with GitHub Actions, reusable workflows, OIDC, and secrets management. - Demonstrated success delivering internal platforms that engineering teams choose to adopt and use effectively. - Experience setting technical direction across multiple teams and communicating architectural decisions clearly. - A team-enablement mindset, with sound judgment about what belongs in a central platform and what should remain with individual teams.

Nice to have

- Production experience with Cloudflare services such as WAF, DNS, or zero-trust networking. - Experience with Datadog, JFrog, or comparable infrastructure vendors. - Background in cost observability, FinOps, or cloud-spend management. - Previous work on a platform team serving internal engineering customers.
