Remote job
Forward Deployed Engineer
Job details
About this role
Role overview
This position embeds an engineer directly with revenue teams to translate customer needs into working AI-driven systems. The work spans the full sales cycle—from early technical discovery through post-close onboarding and ongoing adoption—and carries real influence on product roadmaps and engineering priorities. It's a hybrid role that combines hands-on coding, customer-facing consulting, and cross-team collaboration in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Partner with account executives on pre-sales engagements, aligning the platform with prospect systems, advising on best practices, and running demos. - Own initial configuration and onboarding after close, guiding a build → pilot → GA loop for each customer use case and building alongside customer teams. - Drive end-to-end adoption by equipping internal champions, monitoring usage signals, creating proactive solutions, and re-engaging accounts when momentum stalls. - Serve as the technical voice in security and architecture reviews, walking executive stakeholders through how the platform fits into their AI stack and flagging deal-cycle risks early. - Maintain strong relationships with technical champions and stay close to the work they're shipping on the platform. - Participate in research and development syncs, bringing customer context into roadmap conversations and contributing to the codebase when it matters.
Requirements
- 5+ years building production software, with comfort working in Python or TypeScript codebases, shipping to production, and being on-call. - Hands-on experience with large language models in production, including agentic patterns, tool-use protocols, retrieval-augmented generation architectures, structured output, and fact extraction. - Prior customer-facing engineering experience in roles such as forward-deployed engineer, solutions architect, partner engineer, or implementation engineer. - Strong judgment about what "production-grade" means, with the ability to distinguish prototypes from infrastructure designed for sustained use. - A teaching mindset—able to explain technical concepts clearly and leave customer teams more capable than they were before. - Comfort operating in a fast-paced startup environment and collaborating across diverse teams.
Nice to have
- Experience supporting a range of customer personas, from those new to AI to power users building complex agent-driven workflows.
Benefits and work setup
- Competitive compensation and equity. - 401(k) plan plus health, dental, and vision insurance. - Flexible time off and paid parental leave. - Education stipend for ongoing learning. - Remote-friendly engagement model, with the ability to operate as either an embedded team member or an external advisor depending on customer preference.
