About this role
Role overview A contract opportunity exists for an experienced RDF Developer to build a consolidated, pan-archival RDF catalogue that brings together record descriptions from multiple source catalogues into a single new system. The work is fully remote within the USA, runs for roughly 20 weeks, and centres on linked-data modelling, semantic web standards, and API development.
Responsibilities - Design and develop a pan-archival catalogue that unifies record descriptions from several existing catalogues into one consolidated system. - Build API functions supporting search, selection, addition, export, editing, import, and deletion of catalogue data. - Develop advanced search capabilities aimed at expert users, combining SPARQL with Elasticsearch. - Apply semantic web standards and validation tooling to ensure data quality and interoperability.
Requirements - Minimum of four years of relevant professional experience. - Hands-on experience with standards-based ontologies and vocabularies such as W3C PROV, Dublin Core, and W3C ODRL. - Demonstrated ability to validate RDF data, for example using RDF SHACL shapes. - Practical experience creating and working with RDF databases and SPARQL, including platforms like AWS Neptune.
