Role overview A venture-backed, early-stage fintech company is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join as a foundational team member. The platform automates and connects high-stakes financial workflows, currently in advanced beta with live customers and preparing for a full production launch. This fully remote position involves deep ownership of core services, interfaces, and system architecture during a critical scaling phase.
Responsibilities - Design and build backend and frontend services from the ground up, contributing across the full stack - Own major architecture components and shape how the platform scales to meet production demand - Drive the product from advanced beta to production readiness, including reliability and performance considerations - Write clean, scalable code using Java (Spring Boot) and React, with opportunities to work in Python as well - Collaborate directly with founders on technical direction, product decisions, and engineering standards - Establish and document engineering best practices as the team grows
Requirements - Strong understanding of application architecture and system design principles - Proven track record of building production systems end to end, from inception through launch - Ability to balance rigorous engineering quality with the pace of a startup environment - Ownership mindset with hands-on experience in zero-to-one product development - Strong problem-solving skills and sound technical judgment - Working experience with Java, Spring Boot, Python, React, or comparable technologies
Nice to have - Background in financial services, fintech, or other regulated, high-stakes software environments - Comfort operating in small, senior teams with high autonomy and minimal hand-holding
