About this role
Role overview Own integration testing between a Linux board support package (BSP) and the middleware and platform software built on top of it for a vision processing unit. You’ll validate BSP releases on physical hardware, surface issues before handoff, and help both teams diagnose and resolve problems across the operating system and application layers. The work is hands-on and suits an experienced engineer who can operate independently and help set priorities.
Responsibilities - Maintain BSP integration test suites in a Python-based framework. - Run validation on dedicated test benches and hardware-in-the-loop infrastructure before BSP releases are handed to platform teams. - Record, track, and drive defects through resolution with the relevant engineering teams. - Translate platform needs into requirements and tests that guide BSP development. - Investigate hardware issues with logs, debuggers, and bus analyzers, tracing faults across kernel, driver, and user-space layers. - Read and modify Linux sensor or kernel drivers when needed, and help agree on fixes with both teams.
Requirements - Professional embedded software development experience on Linux-based products. - Practical skill troubleshooting embedded systems with tools such as logs, debuggers, and bus analyzers. - Daily working knowledge of C or C++, Rust, and Python. - Experience with customizable Yocto-based BSPs, such as meta-tegra or a comparable layer for NVIDIA Jetson-class hardware. - Ability to debug and modify Linux sensor and kernel drivers. - Practice writing tests alongside changes and running them in continuous integration. - Independence, pace, and willingness to propose priorities and solutions in discussions with senior engineers. - Strong spoken and written technical English.
Nice to have - Experience operating CI or hardware-in-the-loop test farms for embedded targets, and familiarity with pytest or similar frameworks and test reporting. - Work with camera, IMU, or other embedded Linux sensor pipelines; CAN or Ethernet networking; or coordination between platform teams and downstream users. - Experience with requirements management and test traceability, open source contributions, or technical community participation and speaking.
