Solutions Engineer - Government - UT, AZ, CO, WA

Role overview

This Solutions Engineer position supports a government-sector sales motion across Utah, Arizona, Colorado, and Washington, blending deep technical expertise in observability with customer-facing pre-sales work. The role partners closely with account executives, customer success managers, expert services consultants, and product teams to translate advanced monitoring capabilities into clear business value for public-sector prospects and existing accounts. It is a hands-on, travel-included position (up to 30%) suited to someone who enjoys both architecture conversations and live stage demos.

Responsibilities

- Deliver tailored product demonstrations that illustrate how advanced observability solves customer pain points, both onsite and remote. - Lead the technical evaluation workstream for proof-of-concept engagements, including cloud architecture discussions and outcome reporting. - Partner with sales representatives to surface new opportunities and expand usage within existing government accounts. - Present solution vision and value to C-suite executives and at industry events, trade shows, and partner-sponsored forums. - Author and respond to RFIs and RFPs while contributing technical guidance through Discovery, Solution Evaluation, and Proposal stages. - Relay customer feedback and market signals to product management to inform roadmap and competitive positioning. - Act as a trusted technical advisor to channel partners, coaching their teams during joint pursuits.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience. - At least three years of hands-on experience in observability, application performance management, or a closely related technical domain. - Demonstrated success in a pre-sales, solution engineering, or other technical customer-facing role (approximately 3–5 years). - Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to drive issues to a working resolution. - Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent pursuits and support several sellers or fellow engineers in parallel. - Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to translate technical depth into business outcomes. - Residence in Utah, Colorado, Arizona, or Washington and willingness to travel up to 30%.

Nice to have

- Familiarity with web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. - Programming or scripting experience with Java, .NET, PHP, Go, Node.js, or relational databases. - Advanced working knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems. - Exposure to DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering practices. - Hands-on experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP). - Familiarity with containers, Kubernetes or OpenShift, serverless functions, and CI/CD pipelines. - Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Terraform.
