About this role

Role overview

A privacy-focused organization is hiring a senior data scientist to shape product and business outcomes through statistical modeling, experiment design, and applied machine learning. The position spans search quality, instant answer features, AI-assisted experiences, and revenue optimization initiatives, with end-to-end ownership from scoping through post-production review. Work takes place in an evidence-first culture where quantitative rigor is foundational and datasets are intentionally constrained, so creative statistical thinking is expected.

Responsibilities

- Drive end-to-end ownership of complex analytics and modeling projects spanning multiple product surfaces - Design, run, and evaluate experiments; convert full-funnel measurement into concrete product and marketing decisions - Build, deploy, and iterate on production machine learning systems, including classifiers, trigger logic, and NLP components - Develop monitoring pipelines that surface metric anomalies and unexpected traffic shifts quickly - Apply Bayesian methods to assess marketing campaign impact and inform growth strategy

Requirements

- Seven or more years in data science, with demonstrated success leading high-complexity projects into production with minimal direction - Capability in at least two of: deploying ML in production, developing NLP solutions, working with LLMs (fine-tuning, LLM-as-judge, AI-assisted development), or conducting Bayesian marketing analyses - Production-quality coding in Python or a comparable high-level language - Advanced SQL and query optimization, plus familiarity with columnar systems such as BigQuery, ClickHouse, Redshift, or Druid - Comfort designing experiments and extracting insight from sparse or privacy-bounded datasets - Effective collaboration with cross-functional product teams

Nice to have

- Hands-on experience with BI tools such as Tableau or PowerBI

Benefits and work setup

- Fully remote-first organization with transparent compensation: $178,500 USD annually plus stock options, applied uniformly within level and region - Flexible scheduling with no required core hours and an expected ~40-hour weekly commitment - Health benefits available to team members based in the United States - Approximately two in-person gatherings each year (a company-wide meetup and a team retreat), each lasting roughly four to five days - Required video presence in meetings; successful hires must pass a background check
