Software Engineer - Clients and Drivers

Role overview Join a highly technical engineering team building core client and driver experiences for a unified lakehouse analytics platform that powers self-service analytics and AI workloads for hundreds of global enterprises. The work spans the full software development lifecycle on a stack rooted in open table formats and in-memory data technologies, with direct collaboration alongside BI tool partners and end users.

Responsibilities - Contribute across the full software development lifecycle, from inception and design through development, testing, and deployment of client-facing components. - Work on and contribute back to open source projects, with particular focus on an in-memory columnar data framework. - Participate in code and design reviews to maintain quality and deepen understanding of the broader system architecture. - Partner with program managers, support engineers, and architects to scope new feature requests and refine existing designs. - Help grow the team by participating in recruiting, mentoring, and shaping engineering best practices. - Collaborate directly with customers and BI client tool partners on integration, compatibility, and adoption.

Requirements - B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or a closely related technical field. - Fluency in Java, C++, or another modern systems language. - Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, multi-threaded and asynchronous patterns applied to scalable systems. - Demonstrated passion for software quality, zero-downtime upgrades, availability, and resiliency. - Experience developing scalable distributed systems and deploying, scaling, and managing microservices in production.

Nice to have - Hands-on experience with JDBC, ODBC, ADBC, or other database driver/protocol implementations. - Working knowledge of the Apache Arrow ecosystem and its internals. - Familiarity with the SQL language and query execution. - Background building client-side libraries or applications. - Prior contributions to open source projects.
