About this role
Role overview Join a team building structured generation technology that constrains language model outputs to follow a defined format by selecting allowed tokens at every decoding step. The work involves compiling schemas, regular expressions, grammars, and policies into a fast decision engine that runs inside the inference loop. As a Staff Rust Developer, you will own the performance-critical core: the automata, indexes, and parsers that execute on every token.
Responsibilities - Lead the design, development, and deployment of mission-critical Rust systems from conception through production release - Write and optimize parsing code with strong performance discipline, backed by automated benchmarking - Design, implement, and debug formal grammars, efficient parsers, standard and non-standard automata, and text-based indexing and search structures - Collaborate across teams to integrate their work into production-ready Rust - Apply advanced profiling, debugging, and CI/CD tooling to maintain consistent code quality at scale
Requirements - Demonstrated ability to lead and contribute to sophisticated, collaborative Rust projects - Track record of developing well-tested, high-performance software - Expertise with code profiling, debugging, and automated CI workflows - Practical ability to work across CUDA, C/C++, and Rust/Python bindings - Excellent communication skills and a proactive mindset suited to an early-stage startup culture
Benefits and work setup - Fully remote with team members primarily in the US and EU; requires at least three hours of daily overlap with 8am–1pm Eastern Time - Market-rate salary plus stock options, health and dental insurance, and a 401(k) for US employees - GPU hardware provided if needed - Written-first communication culture with occasional organic discussions
