Remote job
Staff Software Engineer, Enterprise Platform
Job details
About this role
Role overview Be the founding engineering hire on a new Enterprise Platform team inside a fast-scaling consumer technology company. The mission is to convert manual IT and operations work into self-service software, replacing consoles and tickets with versioned, API-driven infrastructure. Expect to set the technical direction, write the early RFCs, and build the primitives that future hires will extend.
Responsibilities - Manage the company device fleet as code, moving configuration off consoles into versioned, API-driven infrastructure for endpoint management and hardware provisioning. - Automate the identity layer, including SSO, SCIM integrations, and account workflows, so changes ship through version control and CI/CD rather than an admin console. - Own application delivery and infrastructure-as-code, building deployment pipelines and provisioning patterns that establish CI/CD standards for internal systems. - Design and ship the self-service layer of APIs, CLIs, and portals that compose platform primitives into paved paths such as new-hire onboarding. - Define the technical direction and architecture for the discipline, writing the RFCs and documentation future hires will build on.
Requirements - Six or more years building and operating production software and systems at a technology company, with a track record of owning ambiguous projects end to end. - Strong software engineering fundamentals with regular production coding in Python, TypeScript, and Rust, including design, testing, and shipping discipline; this is not a systems administration role. - Deep, hands-on IAM experience including SSO, SCIM, OAuth/OIDC, and RBAC, plus fluency with Terraform and CI/CD pipelines. - Experience treating endpoint and fleet management as an API-driven engineering surface at scale. - A platform-as-a-product mindset demonstrated by self-service tooling that people actively chose to adopt. - Comfort with ambiguity and a founder's temperament, energized by building from scratch.
Nice to have - Hands-on experience with Okta, Jamf, or Intune. - Background in identity and access governance for non-human, workload, or AI-agent principals. - Experience at a high-growth consumer technology company with a highly technical employee base.
Benefits and work setup - US base salary range of $248,000 to $279,000, plus equity and benefits, with compensation determined by role, level, and additional factors such as skills and experience.
