Role overview Step into a senior individual-contributor role on a Network Products team that builds both control plane and data plane software for a large cloud platform. The position blends API development, customer experience improvements, and end-to-end ownership of networking product offerings, with a strong emphasis on quality, performance, and reliability at scale.
Responsibilities - Lead the design, implementation, testing, and optimization of new services and tools that address performance and monitoring challenges at scale. - Partner across networking and the wider company to build next-generation offerings for a developer community. - Support existing products, surface creative solutions to operational pain points, and improve tooling and processes for mission-critical releases. - Establish architectural and development best practices and help grow and mentor other engineers. - Work with technologies including Go, Consul, Kafka, SQL, Chef, Git, Jira, gRPC, Prometheus, Grafana, Lightstep, Docker, Kubernetes, DNS, eBPF, and XDP.
Requirements - Significant experience as a software architect and lead developer building scalable, real-time, distributed systems. - Significant hands-on experience with Go and unit testing. - Working knowledge of the networking stack with a desire to deepen it. - Experience leading cross-team API contract work and with cloud development, containerization, and virtualization. - Solid CI/CD experience, plus some data-plane programming with eBPF or XDP. - A proven record of sweeping improvements in stability, performance, and scalability across business-critical systems and of automating delivery from development through ongoing production operation.
Nice to have - Building robust, distributed, high-demand systems with gRPC. - Experience developing firewall, DNS, or network monitoring systems. - Working knowledge of Temporal and Kafka. - A B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
Benefits and work setup - Remote role with a base salary range of $167,200 to $209,000, plus potential bonus and equity participation. - Conference and training reimbursement, broad online learning access, and flexible time off.
