Role overview
Join a remote engineering team building and evolving REST APIs and SDKs for cloud infrastructure management, deployment automation, and DevOps workflows. This role combines hands-on backend development with meaningful input into API design, software architecture, developer experience, security, performance, and usability. The work spans open-source and proprietary repositories and includes integrations with external cloud and infrastructure services.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, document, and improve REST API endpoints, SDKs, libraries, and providers. - Strengthen API robustness, usability, security, and performance for developers and applications around the world. - Own and prioritize the API technical backlog, including architecture improvements, bugs, and technical debt. - Contribute to backend architecture decisions and help shape an API-first product. - Integrate the product with third-party cloud application and infrastructure services. - Collaborate in a supportive engineering environment and contribute across related technical challenges when appropriate.
Requirements
- Practical experience developing and maintaining REST APIs. - Strong interest in API design, documentation, developer experience, automation, and reliable software architecture. - Ability to make technical decisions proactively and communicate recommendations clearly. - Familiarity with backend development and integrations involving cloud infrastructure or deployment workflows. - Comfort working with both open-source and closed-source codebases.
Nice to have
- Experience with cloud providers, Docker, Kubernetes, databases, caching systems, or scripting. - Familiarity with backend ecosystems such as Go, Node.js, Python, PHP, Ruby, Java, or .NET.
