About this role
Role overview A Platform Engineer is needed to support the deployment and ongoing maintenance of a Kubernetes-based platform within a secure, bare-metal environment serving U.S. government missions. The role bridges application teams and the platform itself, championing reliable, secure, and scalable operations. It is a hands-on engineering position with roughly 15-25% travel and a U.S. citizenship requirement.
Responsibilities - Architect, deploy, configure, and test bare-metal infrastructure spanning GPU compute, storage, and networking components. - Deploy, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Kubernetes-based platform services and supporting workloads. - Develop and manage infrastructure-as-code and configuration assets that enable consistent, repeatable deployments. - Support secure software delivery pipelines, including container images, registries, packaged artifacts, and deployment outputs. - Collaborate with mission stakeholders, partner organizations, and internal engineering teams to surface requirements and resolve deployment or platform challenges.
Requirements - Eligibility to hold a U.S. government security clearance. - Hands-on experience deploying and operating Kubernetes or containerized platforms in bare-metal or on-premises settings, including cluster lifecycle and workload troubleshooting. - Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, or comparable offerings. - Working knowledge of CI/CD tooling, ideally GitLab CI or an equivalent pipeline platform. - Comfort with Linux/Unix administration from the command line and fluency reading and writing YAML for Kubernetes manifests, CRDs, Helm charts, and pipeline definitions. - Ability to obtain a DoD 8570 IAT II certification (for example, Security+ CE).
Nice to have - Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS services such as EC2, EKS, IAM, S3, and VPC. - Prior work supporting GPU-enabled infrastructure or GPU-accelerated workloads. - Strong communication and collaboration skills for working alongside partner engineering teams.
Benefits and work setup - Remote position based in the United States. - Listed compensation range of $123,250 to $166,750 USD, with final packages calibrated to candidate experience and national benchmarking. - Medical, dental, and vision coverage with company-paid premiums, plus a health savings account, life insurance, and disability insurance. - 401(k) retirement plan, company stock options, and a home office budget. - Flexible paid time off in addition to federal holidays and seasonal company-wide breaks, plus paid parental leave. - Reimbursement for approved training, subscriptions, and conference attendance (travel, lodging, and fees).
