Job details
About this role
Role overview Work directly with enterprise customers to turn demanding generative AI use cases into deployed systems. This hands-on field engineering role combines model and infrastructure expertise with customer discovery, technical guidance, and coordination across customer teams.
Responsibilities - Lead technical discovery, define proof-of-concept scopes, and run load tests and evaluations to identify suitable model and deployment configurations. - Build and deploy prototypes and production integrations within customer environments, accounting for infrastructure and security constraints. - Advise on open model selection, fine-tuning approaches, and evaluation frameworks to help customers scale deployments. - Work across customer stakeholders to identify technical champions, explain trade-offs, and keep implementation decisions moving. - Share recurring deployment patterns and customer needs with product teams.
Requirements - At least 3 years in a customer-facing AI or machine learning role, such as field engineering, applied AI, or solutions architecture. - Hands-on experience with LLM inference or training, including open model serving frameworks; experience limited to closed-model API wrappers is insufficient. - Experience shipping production code or deployed prototypes inside a customer’s environment. - Strong Python skills, cloud or GPU infrastructure experience on AWS, Azure, or GCP, and comfort with Kubernetes. - Ability to discuss implementation details with engineers and present technical trade-offs clearly to senior business stakeholders.
Nice to have - Fine-tuning experience with supervised fine-tuning; preference for additional experience with DPO or RFT. - Familiarity with vLLM, SGLang, TensorRT-LLM, and managed AI platforms such as Bedrock, SageMaker, Vertex AI, or Azure AI Foundry.
Benefits and work setup - US-based and remote-friendly, with regular travel to enterprise customers; offices are available in California and New York. - Base salary of $176,000–$224,000 and on-target earnings of $220,000–$280,000, plus equity. Candidates with 10 or more years of experience may be considered above the stated range. - H-1B transfers and TN sponsorship are available; O-1 sponsorship is considered case by case.
