Senior AI Engineer (Europe, remote) - Sherpany

Role overview

Build and improve practical AI capabilities for products used in executive decision-making. This senior role combines hands-on machine learning engineering, experimentation with modern AI methods, production integration, and close collaboration with software engineering, product, and data teams. The work includes supporting secure, scalable workflows across remote and on-premises environments.

Responsibilities

- Design, build, and optimize AI components and production pipelines. - Experiment with advanced AI approaches and turn promising methods into useful product features. - Integrate AI capabilities with wider software and product systems. - Improve the performance, scalability, reliability, and security of AI workflows. - Support on-premises AI deployments and help maintain compliant infrastructure. - Share engineering practices, mentor less-experienced colleagues, and recommend improvements based on emerging technologies.

Requirements

- At least four years of hands-on AI or machine learning engineering experience in production environments. - Strong Python development skills and practical experience with common machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or scikit-learn. - Working knowledge of large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, vector databases, and AI orchestration frameworks. - Experience with containerized development and modern delivery practices, including Docker, continuous integration and delivery, and Git. - Familiarity with security principles and compliance considerations for production AI systems.

Nice to have

- Experience deploying and operating AI systems on premises. - Experience with major cloud AI platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
