Job details
About this role
Role overview This forward-deployed engineering role embeds small, high-ownership teams inside customer environments to turn open-ended problems into working solutions. The focus is on deploying and operationalizing a real-time intelligence product for U.S. defense and national security missions, with Palantir Foundry as the central platform. The position spans design, build, deployment, and ongoing customer partnership, and is well suited to engineers who enjoy mixing architecture, coding, and direct stakeholder work.
Responsibilities - Partner directly with defense and security customers to understand their highest-priority situational awareness and force protection problems, then scope and deliver solutions against them. - Design, build, and deploy solutions on Palantir Foundry, including data pipelines, ontology models, operator-facing applications, and custom widgets that operationalize real-time intelligence. - Integrate real-time intelligence feeds into customer workflows, common operating pictures, and existing command-and-control tooling, tailoring output to different user groups. - Own solutions end to end with minimal supervision, debug across the full stack (infrastructure, networking, and application), and operate in cloud, hybrid, restricted, disconnected, or on-premises environments. - Act as a trusted technical advisor to customer engineers and operators, channeling feedback back into the product, and travel to customer sites and operations centers as needed (approximately 25–75% of the time).
Requirements - 3+ years of professional software engineering experience delivering production systems in a team setting. - Hands-on Palantir Foundry expertise, including pipelines, ontology, Compute Modules, Code Repositories, and app development. - Strong programming skills in Python, Java, SQL, TypeScript/JavaScript, Bash, or Go, and comfort with containers, Kubernetes/OpenShift, Linux, and on-prem infrastructure. - Active U.S. security clearance, or eligibility and willingness to obtain one; Top Secret clearance preferred. - Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences, with willingness to travel 50–75% to secure customer sites.
Nice to have - Experience in classified, air-gapped, or disconnected environments. - Background in defense, intelligence, or national security operations. - Familiarity with geospatial tools such as Esri/ArcGIS or command-and-control systems, and front-end experience building operator-facing applications.
Benefits and work setup - Remote-eligible role with a base salary range of $165,000–$220,000, plus an annual discretionary bonus, and a benefits package that includes flexible work arrangements, generous PTO, and sick leave.
