Remote job
Scientific Application Developer - Scientific Models
Job details
About this role
Role overview Build a self-service application that helps scientists register, find, run, and compare computational models from different teams and technical environments. You’ll work directly with scientists and modelers to understand their workflows, shape the solution, and take features from early discussions through production.
Responsibilities - Develop production-ready software with attention to performance, clarity, and documentation. - Own the feature backlog: set priorities and estimates, share progress, and deliver work end to end. - Meet with scientists and computational modelers to gather requirements, demonstrate progress, and refine proposed solutions. - Improve the underlying platform and public plugins when project needs reveal gaps.
Requirements - Strong TypeScript experience, including designing and shipping substantial applications or libraries. - Ability to build new software, work effectively in established codebases, and contribute across user interface and backend work. - Experience in scientific or life sciences software, computational modeling, or scientific computing. - Fluent spoken and written English for regular customer meetings, demonstrations, and scope discussions. - Willingness to learn unfamiliar scientific fields and a track record of independently driving a project or major workstream to completion.
Nice to have - Education or experience in a STEM or life sciences field. - Familiarity with Python, R, C++, or Julia sufficient to read and integrate model code. - Experience with model registries, experiment tracking, or workflow engines.
Benefits and work setup - Remote, full-time role with an ASAP start. - Flexible work organization, low bureaucracy, and close collaboration across scientific and technical disciplines. - Opportunities to contribute to open-source software and work on problems with practical scientific applications.
