Summer 2027 AI Engineer Intern

Role overview This is a Summer 2027 remote internship for graduate students interested in building AI applications for the process manufacturing software space. The team operates on a working-team model that gives AI scientists and engineers full ownership, from ideation and research through experimentation to scaling production features. Interns will collaborate with cross-functional partners, run rapid experiments, and ship AI capabilities that have a direct impact on users' daily operations.

Responsibilities - Partner with stakeholders to surface new AI opportunities and design intelligent applications that solve real customer problems. - Lead MVP development with cross-functional teammates using a test-and-learn approach, iterating from problem framing to prototyping. - Build production-grade AI features that are reliable and scalable, including the data pipelines needed to deploy them. - Experiment with generative large language models to create and enhance applications, using prompt design and user feedback to drive improvements. - Communicate progress, findings, and impact clearly to both technical and business audiences.

Requirements - Currently enrolled in a Master's or PhD program in Computational Data Science, Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or a closely related field. - Demonstrated expertise with the latest large language models and a proactive interest in tracking evolving AI trends and new releases. - Proven experience implementing and fine-tuning generative AI LLMs, with strong NLP fundamentals including embeddings, GPT, and Transformer architectures. - Solid grounding in deep learning, machine learning, statistics, and optimization, from coursework or practical work. - Proficiency in Python and C++ or Java, plus familiarity with cloud-based AI deployment on AWS or Google Cloud. - Strong communication and presentation skills, a self-starter mindset, and the ability to navigate ambiguous problems with curiosity and a product focus.
