Remote job
Staff Security Software Engineer - Agentic Security Engineering
Job details
About this role
Role overview
This is a senior individual contributor role on a horizontal security engineering team building AI-native capabilities for an organization's security functions. The mission is to design, ship, and operate production-grade AI agents and the shared platform they run on, so security teams across detection and response, threat intelligence, vulnerability management, red team, and GRC can operate at machine speed with safe-by-default guardrails. The work centers on production AI agents, platform reliability, AI quality practices, and AI-driven threat detection at scale.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate production AI agents and personas used by partner security teams, starting with AI threat detection (alert triage, false-positive reduction, and fleet anomaly detection) - Build and harden the shared agent platform: sandboxing, scoped least-privilege identity, observability, reusable agent and tool catalogs, CI-based deploys, and safe model upgrade paths - Set engineering standards for agent reliability, latency and cost optimization, monitoring, and design review - Establish AI evaluation practices including eval frameworks, LLM-as-judge with bias controls, and regression gates - Lead AI threat detection capabilities such as behavioral analysis, prompt-injection detection, and anomaly detection on agentic workflows - Define the methodology for AI security assessment against threat models and drive automated adversarial testing tooling - Co-build with partner security teams, mentor mid-level engineers, and lead design reviews
Requirements
- 7+ years in software or security engineering with demonstrated technical leadership on a significant workstream - Track record of shipping and operating production AI agents that others depend on (not prototypes or demos), with experience driving AI-native transformation of a function at scale - Expert-level Python for production systems at scale - Depth across agent architecture and orchestration, context and memory management, production operations (latency, cost, caching, monitoring, model upgrades, reliability), and AI quality and evaluation - Hands-on experience with modern agentic frameworks and LLM tooling (e.g., LangChain, Hugging Face, frontier models) and MCP-style tool integration - Strong technical communicator who aligns partners and drives adoption without direct authority
Nice to have
- Background in security domains such as threat detection, vulnerability management, red teaming, or GRC/assurance
Benefits and work setup
- Remote role based anywhere in the United States - Base salary range varies by location, spanning approximately $152,000–$261,250 USD depending on zone - Total compensation may include eligibility for annual performance bonus and equity - Comprehensive benefits package
