Role overview A senior pre-sales engineering role focused on Digital Native and high-velocity technology companies. The position centers on leading end-to-end technical engagements for strategic accounts, owning discovery, solution design, and platform demonstrations that translate customer data and AI ambitions into working proofs of concept. The right candidate blends hands-on coding ability with strong customer-facing presentation skills to grow platform consumption across data, analytics, and machine learning workloads.
Responsibilities - Drive independent technical discovery and architecture design for workloads spanning data engineering, analytics, and ML. - Build and deliver proofs-of-concept, live demos, and reference architectures that win technical evaluations. - Serve as the primary technical contact for customer engineers, data teams, and technical leads. - Partner with the Account Executive to shape account-level technical strategy and expand usage. - Differentiate the platform in head-to-head evaluations through hands-on demonstrations. - Contribute reusable notebooks, solution accelerators, and reference assets to the broader solutions architect community.
Requirements - 4+ years in data engineering, solutions architecture, technical pre-sales, or hands-on consulting. - Proficiency in Python and SQL, with the ability to debug, optimize, and write production-quality code (live coding is part of the interview). - Hands-on experience designing and implementing data solutions on at least one major public cloud (AWS, Azure, or GCP). - Working knowledge of distributed data systems such as Apache Spark, Delta Lake, or equivalents like Hadoop, Kafka, or Flink. - Demonstrated ability to lead technical customer conversations including discovery, whiteboarding, and architecture reviews. - Familiarity with one or more areas: ETL/ELT and medallion architectures, streaming, MLOps, model training, or SQL analytics. - Strong presentation and demo skills, including the ability to build and present a live solution on the spot. - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to have - Certification or direct experience with the unified data and AI platform referenced in the role. - Hands-on work with Unity Catalog, declarative Spark pipeline frameworks, or MLflow. - Background at a data/AI company, cloud provider, or technical consulting firm.
