Role overview

An individual contributor role acting as the principal statistical voice for the data science organization, setting analytical standards at the highest levels of the company. The position focuses on translating complex data science findings into clear, actionable narratives that inform decisions made by the CEO, C-suite, and Board of Directors. It carries company-wide influence without direct reports, prioritizing leverage, rigor, and executive storytelling.

Responsibilities

- Translate complex data science findings into clear, actionable narratives for the CEO, C-suite, and Board of Directors, ensuring analytics inform the most critical company decisions. - Serve as the chief statistical authority and final quality backstop for analytical rigor in high-stakes executive decisions. - Raise the communication bar across the data science organization by setting standards, coaching senior scientists, and co-authoring key executive deliverables. - Produce strategic analyses on revenue, platform health, operational efficiency, and competitive positioning that synthesize judgment-rich insight beyond automated methods. - Partner with engineering, product, and executive staff to embed a data-driven decision-making culture across the company. - Define and evolve company-wide scientific methodologies, including experimentation frameworks, forecasting systems, and causal inference approaches.

Requirements

- 15+ years of experience in data science, statistics, or quantitative research spanning industry and academia. - Proven track record of presenting statistical concepts to C-suite and Board-level audiences, with measurable impact on executive decisions. - Broad expertise across experimentation, causal inference, forecasting, optimization, and machine learning. - Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to make complex statistical concepts intuitive for non-technical executives. - Demonstrated success setting analytical standards, mentoring senior data scientists, and improving organizational output quality. - Experience applying statistics at the intersection of large-scale technology or data platforms, plus a Ph.D. in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.

Nice to have

- Academic research or teaching background in statistics or a quantitative field. - Industry experience at multiple tier-1 technology companies. - Published research or recognized thought leadership in applied statistics. - Experience building or leading a chief statistician or equivalent function. - Background in infrastructure, platform, or systems-oriented data science.
