Staff Software Engineer, Product/AI

Role overview

Lead complex product engineering work from identifying the customer problem through launch and continued improvement. This staff-level role calls for strong backend experience, broad technical judgment, and the ability to coordinate across teams while keeping product outcomes at the center of engineering decisions.

Responsibilities - Frame ambiguous problems, set direction, align partners, and remain accountable through delivery and iteration. - Work with product, design, and data colleagues to set priorities, define scope, and determine how success will be measured. - Guide technical decisions across architecture, performance, reliability, and maintainability. - Coordinate initiatives spanning teams and systems, resolving disagreements and keeping work moving. - Mentor engineers and improve shared practices through guidance, documentation, and reusable patterns. - Use AI tools throughout engineering work, assess their output, and help the team find useful workflows and automation opportunities. - Participate in an on-call rotation to support production systems.

Requirements - Record of leading complex, cross-team or cross-system work that delivered meaningful outcomes. - Strong backend engineering background and ability to make end-to-end decisions across the stack. - Sound product and technical judgment when requirements or solutions are unclear. - Ability to influence experienced colleagues and build alignment without relying on formal authority. - Experience using metrics, experimentation, and observability to guide decisions and improve live systems. - Regular practical use of AI in software development, with accountability for quality, security, and results.

Nice to have - Experience improving AI-assisted engineering workflows across a team.
