Senior Software Engineer - Backend Platform

Role overview

Responsibilities

- Design and evolve distributed services in Go that handle billions of daily events and store/index petabytes of data - Lead architectural decisions around performance, reliability, and real-time event processing - Improve service-to-service communication through better APIs, messaging systems, and event-driven patterns - Investigate cross-team bottlenecks and drive initiatives that improve the customer-facing experience - Tackle high-throughput challenges across data pipelines, queues, and scheduling infrastructure - Debug production systems at scale using effective instrumentation, participate in an on-call rotation, and share knowledge publicly through writing, short videos, and mentorship - Leverage AI tools to prototype, move faster, and make better decisions

Requirements

- Typically 10+ years of experience building scalable, distributed systems in Go or a similar statically typed language - Deep experience with relational databases such as MySQL or Postgres and non-relational stores such as DynamoDB or BigTable, including techniques to make them fast - Comfort working in cloud-native environments (AWS, GCP, or similar) - Familiarity with APIs, observability tooling, and operating production systems - A bias for action over perfection and pride in owning technical decisions end-to-end

Nice to have

- Hands-on experience with event-driven systems, message queues, or large-scale data pipelines - A collaborative mindset that raises the technical bar of the surrounding team
