Job details
About this role
Role overview A contract opportunity for a senior product engineer to own problems end-to-end, from discovery through delivery, in a fast-moving startup environment. The role blends full-stack engineering with AI-assisted development, directing AI agents and human teammates while staying hands-on across the stack. It suits someone who treats shipping as a starting point and outcome as the finish line.
Responsibilities - Take ownership of problems, talk directly with users and stakeholders, and translate intent into functional and non-functional specs - Write production-quality code across the stack using Python, Django, AWS, React, and PostgreSQL - Direct AI coding agents, review their output for correctness, performance, security, and readability, and refine prompts and patterns over time - Coordinate work across other engineers and agents, managing dependencies without micromanaging - Verify end-to-end results, monitor production services, debug issues, and participate in support rotations - Mentor teammates, raise the engineering bar, and make deliberate calls about technical debt and architectural trade-offs
Requirements - 10+ years building production web applications across the full stack, including owning problems end-to-end - Demonstrated ability to gather requirements directly from users, customers, and partner teams and turn ambiguous intent into actionable specs - Track record of owning both functional and non-functional requirements such as performance, scalability, reliability, and security - Strong proficiency across the stack, including Python, Django, AWS, React, and PostgreSQL - Comfort directing AI coding agents and applying sound judgment about when to delegate, automate, or do the work yourself
Nice to have - Background in insurtech, management liability, or professional liability products - Experience building early-stage products where elegant solutions sometimes lose to pragmatic ones
Benefits and work setup - Fully remote, contract role open to candidates based in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Mexico, Dominican Republic, or Peru - Estimated pay range of USD $90,000 to $110,000 annually, with contractor compensation determined by market, location, and experience - Distributed culture with flexibility to work from anywhere, language-class stipend, paid time off, and a locally procured MacBook Pro reimbursement
