Staff Product Quality Engineer

Role overview A staff-level individual contributor position responsible for owning end-to-end product quality strategy for new compute hardware platforms, from early concept through volume production. The role sits at the intersection of compute architecture, manufacturing process, and supplier quality, translating system-level requirements into testable, auditable criteria across the full product lifecycle. The position partners with hardware engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, and data center operations to ensure platforms meet quality and stability targets before reaching customer environments.

Responsibilities - Own the quality workstream across all New Product Introduction phases (EVT, DVT, PVT, MP), setting entry and exit criteria plus go/no-go quality gates in partnership with program management. - Drive Design for Manufacturing and Design for Test reviews with engineering to surface failure modes before tooling and build. - Lead design and process FMEAs for new platforms, prioritizing mitigation for high-severity, high-occurrence failure modes. - Collaborate with manufacturing engineering and ODM/CM partners to define test coverage, pass/fail criteria, and escape-rate targets at each test station. - Own Bill of Materials structure, FRU definition, attribution, AVL, and component qualification. - Provide data-backed readiness assessments to leadership during cross-functional program reviews.

Requirements - 8+ years in hardware or product quality engineering, with meaningful time on server infrastructure hardware. - Demonstrated ownership of quality through at least two full NPI cycles from EVT through mass production. - Working technical fluency in compute architecture, including the ability to read block diagrams and discuss power, thermal, and signal-integrity trade-offs with hardware design engineers. - Hands-on experience defining manufacturing test strategies (ICT, functional test, system-level burn-in) with CM/ODM partners. - Deep familiarity with FMEA, 8D/RCCA, and DOE methodologies. - Strong data fluency, with the ability to analyze DPPM, yield, and field return rates to defend quality decisions.

Nice to have - Experience with high-density racks, liquid cooling, and hyperscale data center hardware. - Familiarity with industry standards relevant to compute hardware quality. - Background standing up or maturing a product quality function inside a fast-scaling hardware organization.
