[Now Hiring] Contract IT Systems Administrator

Role overview A faith-based media organization is hiring a contract IT Systems Administrator to take ownership of its video production storage infrastructure. The role centers on keeping a 10-bay QNAP NAS healthy and tightly integrated with a Dropbox Business account so editors and a global team can move footage without friction. It is a remote, project-based independent contractor engagement with the expectation of ongoing maintenance after the initial cleanup is finished.

Responsibilities - Audit and maintain the existing 10-bay QNAP NAS, including RAID/storage health, firmware, and configuration hygiene. - Design a documented handoff workflow that moves active projects into Dropbox and returns completed work to the long-term archive on the NAS. - Provision secure remote access for approved team members so archive footage can be retrieved from outside the office. - Review and right-size user permissions and administrator accounts so access matches current roles. - Stand up an independent second backup for irreplaceable footage and verify a successful file restore from it. - Produce written documentation covering the architecture, recovery procedure, and account ownership to remove single-person dependencies. - Provide ongoing troubleshooting and maintenance after the initial stabilization period.

Requirements - Hands-on experience building and supporting business network systems. - Practical experience integrating NAS devices with cloud storage platforms such as Dropbox. - Demonstrated ability to work independently, document work clearly, and communicate reliably about availability and progress. - Willingness to bill on an hourly basis (a retainer-only model is not a fit). - Ability to coordinate with an on-site contact when physical access to hardware is required.

Nice to have - Experience with video production or media archive workflows where large raw footage files move between local and cloud storage. - Comfort producing architecture diagrams, runbooks, or redacted write-ups of past storage projects.
