Senior Staff Software Engineer, Native Mobile

Role overview A senior staff engineering role acting as the technical architect for a major client platform migration, replacing an existing React Native application with native Swift and Kotlin codebases used by millions of customers. The position sits on the App Infrastructure team and sets the architectural patterns adopted across roughly 30 product teams, with a particular focus on enabling AI-driven agentic translation between iOS and Android. It is both a deep technical role and an organizational leadership role spanning strategy, mentorship, and cross-team influence.

Responsibilities - Define and drive the long-term technical strategy for the native mobile platform and the migration off the existing cross-platform codebase. - Lead the AI-assisted migration approach, designing reusable automation paradigms such as agent swarms, dual-repo synchronization, and feedback loops that improve translation efficiency over time. - Architect a paved-road native framework in Swift and Kotlin that allows a single mobile engineer to contribute productively to both iOS and Android. - Partner cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering leadership to resolve cross-team blockers and de-escalate conflict during the dual-app transition period. - Mentor senior engineers, build the technical leadership pipeline for native mobile, and recruit through reputation and community presence.

Requirements - 12+ years of software engineering experience with deep expertise in either Swift/iOS or Kotlin/Android and strong working proficiency in the other platform. - Track record of owning outcomes spanning multiple teams, including large-scale platform migrations or rewrites where strategy and trade-offs had measurable business impact. - Deep mobile performance expertise across iOS and Android, including cold start optimization, frame stability, scroll jank elimination, and device-tier profiling. - Proven ability to influence without authority at senior levels, including changing the technical direction of teams outside your own. - Experience designing AI-native engineering workflows adopted across teams, such as LLM-driven code generation or agent-based automation.
