Software Engineer (Kotlin&Java)

Role overview This is a backend engineering position focused on building a category-specific experience for a major European e-commerce marketplace. The work centers on designing and scaling services that support a "stores within a store" model, particularly for the automotive vertical. It is a hands-on role combining architectural decisions with daily coding in Kotlin and Java.

Responsibilities - Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using Kotlin, Java, and Spring Boot. - Build and evolve microservices-based solutions focused on reliability, performance, and maintainability. - Contribute to architectural decisions and shape new backend modules from the ground up. - Continuously optimize existing systems for scalability, performance, and code quality. - Work with MongoDB, Spring Data MongoDB, and Google Cloud Platform as part of the application ecosystem. - Write well-tested code following engineering best practices, and use AI-assisted coding tools as part of the daily workflow. - Collaborate with Product Managers, Data Analysts, UX Designers, and other engineers to translate product and business needs into technical solutions.

Requirements - Strong proficiency in both Kotlin and Java. - Hands-on experience building backend applications with Spring Boot. - Practical experience designing and implementing microservices-based solutions. - Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or comparable agentic coding tools. - Solid engineering practices around testing, code quality, and maintainability. - Experience working closely with product and business teams to define and refine requirements.

Nice to have - Cross-functional skills with hands-on knowledge of web, iOS, or Android technologies. - Intermediate knowledge of MongoDB and Spring Data MongoDB. - Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform.
